Under The Southern Sky

The open pastures around Keithville, Louisiana, have long been a source of inspiration for my paintings. "Under a Southern Sky" is a composition drawn from several familiar scenes in this rural countryside, where cattle graze peacefully beneath towering clouds drifting across a brilliant blue sky.

Rather than capturing one particular location, I wanted to express the feeling of these quiet Southern pastures—the warmth of the sunlight, the changing moods of the sky, and the simple beauty of the land. With loose, impressionistic brushwork, I hoped to preserve that sense of openness and tranquility that makes these familiar places so special to me.
